Team JUNK
About:
The Earth is finite, and will eventually run out of resources. Space Debris is a major obstacle that prevents us from searching for habitable planets. Furthermore, the accumulation of space debris within Earth's atmosphere creates a barrier from which space vehicles and capsules have a difficult time entering space. Space Debris also provides a threat to current satellites orbiting Earth, which provide services such as GPS, weather monitoring, and other essential services that humans take for granted. If space debris is not dealt with and mitigated, we may find ourselves trapped in a ring of debris.
Research Question
What are the most efficient methods of dealing with the increasing prevalence of space junk, and how can we, an undergraduate research team, develop a technology incorporating the most efficient methods for actual use?
